Following the death of a loved one, the bereaved family, who may be suffering great distress, are required to make many decisions necessary to arrange the funeral.
The majority of the funerals in the UK are still of a traditional religious type, which suits many people. However, an increasing number are opting for an alternative http://www.bespoke-services.org.uk/
Sometimes, a wholly religious service does not seem appropriate for the family, yet a humanist or atheist ceremony may not meet all of their needs or wishes either.
Many people approach Civil Celebrants because they believe a secular (or non-religious) ceremony, yet with some religious or spiritual content, will be most appropriate for them. Others will choose a completely non-religious service where their wishes are the only concern.
During a visit with the bereaved family, a fitting tribute, or eulogy, will be created in partnership with myself. This tribute gives a respectful account of the person’s life and experiences, their qualities, and beliefs. Details of the remainder of the ceremony will also be arranged – such as music, poetry, readings, or prayers. These may be read by or on behalf of family members and friends. The tribute will be written out by myself, the Celebrant, and returned to the family for checking before the funeral.
I will happily and respectfully tailor the service to suit your own personal beliefs and philosophies and those of whoever the service is for. The choices and decision-making are the families to make, without prejudice or influence.
A Civil Funeral Ceremony can be held almost anywhere. These locations include cemeteries, crematoria, woodland burial grounds, funeral parlours, homes, hotels or public halls.
A Civil Celebrant will help families to compose a positive and meaningful service which celebrates and honours the life of the deceased in a heartfelt and individual way. Many people find great comfort in this final act of love and caring.
